Le Loyon
Somewhere, in the forests of Switzerland, a human walks the same path through the forests and the mountains and that trails. Reports of this figure began in the early 2000s. The human, which seemed to be a man, wore a gas mask on his face, a black, hooded cloak, and a military-esque boiler suit. But who is this man, why is he walking, and why did he choose the forest of Maules
Sightings occurred in regular intervals through the months and years in different spots of the forest. Almost al agreed on his clothing and usually placed the figure at about 6ft tall. Although it seems he never approached or attacked people, many reported a sense of threat or vague fear when seeing him. Although, who wouldn’t feel that way when bumping into someone wearing a gas mask in the forest.
However, there are also some off-kilter stories. One woman claims that she saw Le Loyon picking flowers, and he fled when he realized he was being watched. Others who have believed to see him at a distance claim that he went out of his way to disappear into the forest and avoid the.
Marianne Descloux, a local as quoted in UFO insight shared an experience with him, “It was a rainy Sunday. He had on a cap, a dark cloak and gas mask. What goes on in his head? I don’t know. It was unpleasant. I hope I never run into him again!“
Some believed he was a boogey man, others believed a ghost, and some even believed he was just a human male who perhaps was a hermit or just enjoyed wearing this outlandish attire.
Many people believed this figure was a strange urban legend, meant to kept children out of the woods. However, that thought changed when this strange picture was taken of the alleged Le Loyon in 2013.
Stranger still, Le Loyon may have heard about this photograph. Le Matin published what they believed to be a note from Le Loyon themself. The proof? A long-hooded trench coat was left next to the note. It was titled ‘The Death Certificate And Testimate Of The Ghost Of Maules‘. The full note can be found here (in French). It blames the public for revealing him and making him a mockery.
So was this note real and is Le Loyon simply a man who enjoyed strange forest walks? Is the note a forgery and an attempt at placating the scared public into once again returning to the forest? Or, is it something else and even stranger?
