Black Star Canyon
Located in the Santa Ana mountains in Orange County, California the canyon is an important historical and archaeological site. The Gabrielino (sometimes called the Tongva) Native American tribe would travel to the canyon during the sumer to escape the heat. However, in the 1800s they began encountering colonists. Namely, the Spanish conquistadors and Mexican settlers that were flowing into the area. These conflicts resulted in the horrible death and slaughter of the Gabrielino. These conflicts, in a once cool and protective canyon, have generated rumors, sightings, and horrible feelings about the horrors these people were forced to endure.
Though there are rumors that much of the paranormal activity is due to something called the Black Star Canyon Massacre. However, local historians are skeptical of this claim due to the lack of evidence that documents a large-scale massacre. That being said, there were multiple skirmishes, fights, and trauma for the people that once sought the refuge of the canyon.
Phenomena around the canyon include apparitions of child ghosts, voices in the night, tears, feelings of revulsion and a strong aversion to even suggesting that you should visit the canyon after nightfall. These seem to be particularly loud and active during the summer months with reports of conversations, smells of fire, and tribal drums.
In addition to the ghostly apparitions, sounds of weeping, and strange feelings there are other reports. In fact, Black Star Canyon may have its very own Sasquatch.
Interestingly, the Santa Ana mountains are largely limestone. If you believe any of this at all, limestone is a particularly great stone to release psychic and electromagnetic energies.
While you can visit Black Star Canyon, I should note that it is not an easy hike. There are multiple points where you have to scrabble and it is not uncommon for Orange County Fire Authority to rescue hikers, or, in extreme cases, airlift them out of the canyon. So, if you do want to visit this spot keep that in mind!
