Ep 334: Amy Bruni's Cuisine to Kill For

Who doesn’t want to dig into a helping of Meat Stew with Polenta and Egg from Bran Castle while discussing Vlad the Impaler and his penchant for, well, impaling?
— Amy Bruni, from the introduction to her latest book, "Cuisine to Kill For"

Description:

In 1673, Rebecca Cornell was found dead beside the hearth in her Rhode Island home. Afterward, her ghost allegedly appeared to accuse someone of murder and her son was tried and hanged. Her story is just one of nearly sixty strange intersections of true crime, hauntings, history, and food recipes collected in, Cuisine to Kill For, the new cookbook from veteran paranormal investigator, author, and television personality Amy Bruni. This week, Amy joins us to talk about the haunted locations, infamous deaths, signature dishes, cocktails, desserts, and recipes that reveal just how naturally the paranormal and frightfully delicious fare can share a table.

Location:

Summarized from the entry on The Rhode Island Historical Society’s website: “Rebecca Cornell's house was originally located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island on a 100-acre plot of land granted to her husband, Thomas Cornell, in 1646. While the original farmhouse where Rebecca famously and mysteriously died burned down in 1889, it was rebuilt six years later using the original farmhouse's plans. That reconstructed building still stands today on the original site and operates as the Valley Inn Restaurant, located at 2221 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.”
