On November 24, 1971, a man who identified himself as “Dan Cooper” purchased a one-way ticket on Northwest Orient Airlines from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA. Early into Flight 305, Cooper notified the aircrew that he had a bomb and demanded $200,000 and four parachutes. Soon after the redirected and refueled flight from Seattle took off on its way to his stated new destination of Mexico City, Cooper jumped from the plane with the cash and into criminal history as the only unsolved case of skyjacking in commercial aviation.
